Dear Families & Friends of Fatima,
This will be an eventful week! It is officially Catholic Schools Week where we take some time to celebrate the benefits and joys of a Catholic education. We staff, with some input from our Student Council, have planned a mixture of fun and serious events to make this a special week.
These are also listed on Sycamore.
Monday: Blue & Gold/Yellow day (yes, students may color their faces and hair as long as it is all gone by Tuesday!)
At 2:00pm Fr. Steve will meet us all in the gym for a Pep Rally and Volleyball game. Parents are invited to attend.
Tuesday: Grades 6,7, & 8 will travel by bus to Santa Fe for the Archbishop’s All School Mass. They must be dressed in full Mass attire.
Students in grades PreK-5 may dress as a favorite character (book, film, story).
Wednesday is Mass attire, but students may bring a crazy, silly hat and socks to wear after Mass.
Thursday is jersey/sweats/jeans day.
The science fair will be open for viewing from 2:00PM-4:00PM on Thursday, February 2nd. Parents and students are welcome to come and view the projects at this time. Projects will be judged Friday morning.
Friday is our Science Fair judging day and will be a regular “Friday dress” which may include uniform, or jeans & Fatima shirt. The Science Fair will be open to participants and judges only from 8-11 Friday Morning. All projects will be taken home Friday after school.
Friday is also the Feast of St. Blaise, and Fr. Steve and possibly Deacon Bill will come into the classrooms and bless throats.
Friday is a 1:00 Dismissal- Staff will have its monthly meeting. We will review our accreditation progress, and then have a training webinar on using data from our Renaissance Star Math & Reading assessments.
Our 5th-8th graders heard a representative from the NM Attorney General’s Office of Community Outreach and Education speak about Internet safety and CyberNet Security. I will share some of the things that were addressed over the next couple weeks, though you might just as well ask your student. I believe that she made quite an impression on them. Hopefully she was convincing enough that they really scrutinize their online presence. One lesson to take away is that their parents (you!) should be able to access anything they do online.
Note below from our Yearbook advisor:
Mr. Castillo is need of pictures of the Geography Bee AND Christmas concert. If you have pictures of this event, he’d like to hear from you. Please save pictures to a USB, place in a plastic baggie with your students name/grade and place this bag in his box. He will return them. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.
The Athletic Department is sponsoring a fundraising Zumba night Feb. 17th. I will attach a flyer.
Save the Date: Saturday, April 22–2nd Tim Whalen Memorial Golf Tournament at Sandia Resort.
Take care, and enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Mrs. Paula Domino DeHaas
