Dear Families & Friends of Fatima,
Two weeks have just flown by, not without a few bumps in the road, but we will “keep calm and carry on”! First of all, we thank veteran Fatima educator, Mrs. Betsy Franchini who is teaching our first grade until we find a permanent replacement. We are advertising on the Catholic website and in today’s Sunday Journal.
Secondly, our maintenance crew has located the water line and dug a trench so that a plumber can come in and replace the lines. That will be a big improvement to our drinking water situation. We thank you and our students for your patience.
Our September class newsletters will be posted this week on Sycamore. While I believe the communication between our teachers and home is good and consistent; posting monthly newsletters lets you see what all the other classes are doing as well.
Last week Fr. Steve took the pre-K class and the 5th grade on a tour of the altar and sacristy which they really enjoyed. Eventually all the classes will take the tour as well. They get to visit with our pastor and become more familiar with all that he and others are doing on the altar. Hopefully this will enhance their experience and participation during Mass.
Jeff Turcotte from St. Pius X H.S. will be at Fatima on Thursday at 2:45pm in the gym. He is visiting all the Catholic schools to encourage participation in a 5K Run/Walk to be held on Sunday, Sept. 24th at Pius. The proceeds will benefit all our schools. You are welcome to attend this “rally” on Thursday.
There are so many events going on at the Catholic Schools Office level to promote Catholic schools and to raise funds. I have mentioned a few already: “Baseball with the Archbishop” raffle, a 5K event, and the Archbishop’s Annual School Dinner. Please check the Archdiocese of Santa Fe Catholic Schools website for details. www.asfcatholicshools.org We have raffle tickets available here in our office for “Baseball with the Archbishop”.
Speaking of raffles, have you noticed a red wagon in the school lobby? It’s our “Party Wagon” which will be raffled off at the Archbishop’s Dinner, Sept. 22nd. Our job is to fill it with games, toys, movie tickets, popcorn, gift certificates, etc. Any contributions to our party wagon are welcome!
Lastly, a note from Mai and Emily Nguyen who continue to coordinate our boxtop collections…and we thank them for all their work! (see the attachment below)
Thank you for the opportunity to work with your children, & God bless you all.
