Dear Families & Friends of Fatima,
Some special things are going on this week at OLOF and I want to make sure you are well informed!
First, a reminder that Raffle tickets are due soon!! This is our biggest fundraiser, so please bring tickets and money to the parish or school office.
This Tuesday at 8 am Fr. Steve will bless your pets in front of Fatima Gallagher Hall in honor of the Feast Day of St. Francis. Make sure your pet is on a leash, crated, or otherwise restrained. You will take them home afterwards.
This Friday we have a very special event planned for our First Friday Fellowship. Please read the following from Mrs. Hiller: (Please remember, too that it is a 1:00 PM dismissal)
Please join us for our October fellowship activity. We will meet in the gym on Friday October 6th at 8:45 AM. First we will pray the Rosary as we reflect on the approaching 100th Anniversary of the 6th and Final Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima on October 13, 1917. Immediately following our Rosary we will be joined by Mary Carpenter, Fatima Alumnus, and a team of engineering students from UNM. They designed and built a race car that participated in a collegiate competition in Lincoln Nebraska this summer. The Engineering students will give a presentation to the Fatima student body regarding their car and the basic engineering principles used to design it. After the presentation students will use recyclables they have gathered to design and build their own mini race cars.
During the week please send any and all recycling materials that might be helpful in making the car. We are using only materials that can be placed in the blue recycling bins. All materials should be clean and free of sharp edges. Some examples are plastic containers, milk cartons, toilet and paper towel roles, etc. The school will provide tape, brackets and rubber bands. Students can keep their own supplies but we also need extra materials for the community recycling pile. This pile will be placed in the center of the gym for students to use on the day of the activity.
Thanks for your help!
Emily Hiller
Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and thank you for the privilege of teaching your children,
