Today marks the beginning of Catholic Schools Week. We here at Fatima will join with our Catholic school brothers and sisters across the state and country in celebrating the contribution Catholic education has made to us as individuals, and to our entire country. As Catholic school educators, we have more than a job; we have a vocation, a calling to share God’s Good News with our students and with one another. How fortunate we are to be a part of a system that puts God first. This doesn’t automatically make us better than other schools , but it gives us “the opportunity every day to be the very best we can be: Christian role models, lifelong learners, and responsible citizens.”
On Tuesday, our 5th-8th grades will attend Mass at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Church with Archbishop John C. Wester. We will be joined by students from all of the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. This annual celebration is a highlight of Catholic Schools Week. We have chartered a bus to take us to the event. Make sure you have signed your child’s consent form. Students will dress in their Mass uniforms complete with ties and cardigans.
We will still have our regular Wednesday Fatima student Mass for grades PreK-8. Of course, families and friends are always welcome to celebrate Mass with us on Wednesdays.
Our Student Council helped plan some fun events this week as well. We have posted on Sycamore what students may wear this week, and here to remind you:
