Dear Friends of Fatima,
Wow! It is hard to believe that my first year as your principal is already concluded. I am looking forward to year two! We had an excellent school year. I am not sure, frankly, who learned more…the students or me! From our ITBS scores there is plenty of evidence as to the success of our students in the classroom. Our entire faculty made some major leaps forward as well. Our staff-working together and supporting each other-can be proud of their efforts. I am happy to report that our entire teaching faculty is returning.
Congratulations to our recently promoted eighth grade class! Over half of our 22 students are hopeful of attending St. Pius next year. Their successes here this year will be hard to top. I know their futures are bright!
As much as I have appreciated our returning families, I also want to send a warm welcome to new families joining our school/church community. Having just acquired the new computer lab facilities for OLF, our parent cohort are quickly off to tackle other school-related goals…such as a new gym floor and a new sound system for our stage. Parents and teachers working together on behalf of our students makes a perfect combination. Whether through our PSO or our SAC or volunteer work at Isotopes Field…parents make a difference here. The support of our parish, under the direction of Monsignor Eggert, is simply exceptional. We are, indeed, blessed.
Regardless-we are in need of more students! In spite of the economy, our tuition rate has remained virtually the same for three years now. We are offering bonus scholarships of $500.00 for our three smaller classes (2nd, 6th, and 8th). We anticipate our enrollment remaining steady but know full-well that a little more growth in numbers would create an even stronger institution.
Please review some of our links below for additional information. Newcomers-please make arrangements to meet with me sometime soon. I must tell you about this school-where we are going and why we are only getting better! I have grown to love our Catholic place…and you will too! (By the way-we welcome all non-Catholics. We have ways to make everyone of God’s creatures feel special.)
With great passion for teaching and learning,
Tim Whalen, Principal
Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School
